Poll: Americans favor Education Savings Accounts by a 3:1 margin

A poll commissioned by the yes.everykid.foundation finds that Americans want Education Savings Accounts by more than a 3:1 margin, with 63% in support and only 20% opposed.

The poll, conducted by YouGov, also found overwhelming support for Open Enrollment and Education Tax Credits.

The Kansas Legislature has not enacted an Education Savings Account program, but it does have a tax-credit scholarship program for low-income students. Kansas is in its second year of limited Open Enrollment, under which students can transfer to another school, subject to receiving schools’ capacity.

Respondents also believe K-12 schools will benefit from the competition provided by Open Enrollment by increasing their accountability.

“For the third year in a row, our survey demonstrates that Americans are demanding a new direction in education, one that respects the needs of every child, shifts accountability to families, and expands opportunities to empower all children to succeed.”
