Lowcock, a professor in the Department of Health, Sport and Exercise Science Department, prefaced his controversial remark by theorizing some men will not vote for Vice-President Harris because they don’t believe women are smart enough to be president:

An excerpt from the university’s Code of Ethical Conduct:

All employees are accountable for fulfilling their responsibilities and for conducting themselves ethically, honestly, and in good faith. We are responsible to each other, the University, and all those we serve, both for our actions and our decisions not to act. Each individual is expected to exercise sound judgment and serve the best interests of the institution and the community.

In announcing the suspension of Dr. Lowcock, KU issued this statement on social media:

The university reported Dr. Lowcock “offers his sincerest apologies and deeply regrets the situation” as KU’s investigation into the incident continues.

The professor’s suspension is just the latest among educators to be suspended in a year of international conflict and domestic politics.

Reporter’s Note: On October 11th, KU announced Professor Lowcock “…has left the university”
