University brass prefer the submissive, hide in place method of dealing with camp shooters.

Sometimes pictures speak louder than words. On Tuesday, a rally against campus carry in Kansas appeared to draw fifteen people. That figure includes the speaker. Beneath the photo on the KMUW blog is the ironic reportage, “Organizers spoke of the need to contact lawmakers, emphasizing that there is power in numbers.”

The rally bore the logic-defying name, “Carry Minds, Not Guns.” According to KMUW, the NPR station in Wichita, the group hopes the Kansas Legislature will pass a bill allowing colleges to opt out of a concealed carry law that is set to go into effect in July.

AWR Hawkins, the Second Amendment columnist for Breitbart News, knows what will happen if colleges are allowed that privilege. He cites the example of Ohio where campus carry is legal at the state level but prohibited by every one of the state’s colleges and universities.

Ohio State University president Michael Drake saw no need to allow students to arm themselves even after an Isis-inspired attacker sent eleven people to the hospital during a car and knife attack in November.

As Hawkins sees it, university administrators like Drake prefer “that students remain defenseless in the classroom and simply dial 911 then shelter in place while law enforcement responds.”

He adds, “This is the type of plan that was followed on April 16, 2007, when 32 unarmed people were shot to death on Virginia Tech’s gun-free campus.”
