An internal memo leaked to the media, written by Vinay Prasad, MD/MPH (Master of Public Health), Director of the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER) at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), claims that at least 10 children have died after and because of receiving the Covid-19 vaccination. The hematologist-oncologist went on to state in the memo, “That number is certainly an underestimate due to underreporting, and inherent bias in attribution. This safety signal has far-reaching implications for Americans, the US pandemic response, and the agency itself…”
Dr. Prasad writes that vaccine-induced myocarditis is likely the cause of death:
Unlike the COVID virus, which has a steep age gradient– being at least 1000 times more likely to kill an 80-year-old than an 8-year-old– myocarditis appeared to have the opposite pattern. Young, healthy boys and men– those least likely to experience bad covid outcomes– bore the greatest risk.
Dr. Prasad continued, writing in the memo:
This is a profound revelation. For the first time, the US FDA will acknowledge that COVID-19 vaccines have killed American children. Healthy young children who faced tremendously low risk of death were coerced, at the behest of the Biden administration, via school and work mandates, to receive a vaccine that could result in death. In many cases, such mandates were harmful. It is difficult to read cases where kids aged 7 to 16 may be dead as a result of covid vaccines
The doctor closed his memo by stating in no uncertain terms his displeasure that it was leaked to the media:
….I remain open to vigorous discussions and debate on these topics, as I have always been. I am open minded to modifications or alterations. As you can imagine, I believe these debates should be private, internal to FDA, until they are ready to be made public. I don’t endorse selective reporting of our meetings and documents. Some staff may not agree with these core principles and operating principles. Please submit your resignation letters to your supervisor and CC my deputy Katherine Szarama.
Reaction to the Prasad Memo was swift and critical. One anonymous respondent labeled it “misleading” and “politically charged.”
Denouncing its conclusion was Michael Osterholm, director of the University of Minnesota’s Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy:
“It’s irresponsible science at best and it’s dangerous to the public at the very least.” Osterholm said the FDA should refer the question of whether there was a causal link between Covid vaccination and the deaths Prasad identified to the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine for independent review.
Paul Offit, a professor at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, said it was “frustrating” to respond to a document when it was unclear exactly what vaccine policy was being proposed:
“It is a lot of vague handwaving. Prasad states there are data, but he doesn’t show the data. It’s an extraordinary claim and should be backed by extraordinary evidence.”
Local doctor agrees: Covid vaccine killed some people
For a local perspective on the controversy, we reached out to Dr. Festus Krebs, a retired head and neck surgery otolaryngologist and a member of Doctors for Truth, a group critical of the government’s response to the pandemic, for his comment on coverage of the leaked memo:
“Government health agency officials and the reporters are being so obtuse and ignoring the main issues that I don’t think this has to do with a medical problem. On the one hand, it makes the government health agency officials look like they’re trying to do something when they’re actually avoiding the 800 lb gorilla in the room, which is that the COVID-19 mRNA vaccination was estimated to have killed 600,000 Americans. Also, ignoring that fact, the reporter is saying that probably no pediatric deaths occurred because no evidence was presented. In any case, the evidence of these deaths has been present for several years, but the issue was never addressed.
“From what has been exposed here, it appears that little will happen, meaning messenger RNA vaccines, which should be completely banned in every country in the world, will not be for political and financial reasons. This appears to be government healthcare agency officials taking credit for something they haven’t done over the past 4 years, and won’t do over the next decade or two.”
