Gov. Eric Greitens is appearing in a new video thanking the the Illinois Speaker of the House.

Why is the Governor of Missouri offering his thanks to an official one state over? Greitens joins  Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker in thanking Illinois Speaker of the House Mike Madigan for raising taxes and rejecting tax reforms offered by Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner.

“Our economy is on fire,” Walker says.

“We’re growing good jobs,” Greitens says.

“Hoosiers love you, Mike Madigan,” Holcomb says.

“Big fans here in Missouri,” Greitens adds. “Big time.”

The ad is paid for by Citizens for Rauner, Inc. Rauner, a Republican, announced he intends to seek re-election in 2018. He was first elected Illinois Governor in 2014.

Lawmakers in Illinois increased individual tax rates from 3.75 percent to 4.95 percent last year in the midst of a budget crisis. Lawmakers grappled with $15 billion in unpaid bills and a burgeoning quarter-trillion dollar pension crisis.

“The budget crisis has forced Illinois to jack up property taxes so high that people are leaving in droves,” CNN Money reported last summer.

According to North American Moving Services annual U.S. Migration Report for 2017, Illinois is the top state for outbound migration.
