Lyndon School District Superintendent Brad Marcotte remains free on bond while the investigation continues following his October 18th arrest on suspicion of child endangerment and obstruction.
Marcotte, 53, was taken into custody and booked in the Osage County jail on one misdemeanor count for each charge. He was released on $2,500 bond. Prosecution of the case will be handled by the City of Lyndon, not Osage County, however. City Attorney Patrick Walsh told The Sentinel a bond hearing has been scheduled for December 18th, and the city is awaiting a police report to determine what, if any, charges will be filed. A call to Lyndon Police Chief David Forkenbrock regarding the police report was not returned.
USD 421 placed Marcotte on administrative leave following his arrest. Board President Bryant Derley issued this statement to school patrons:
Dear USD 421 family,
I’m writing to let you know that Superintendent Marcotte was arrested this afternoon for child endangerment and obstruction. No students were harmed. Tonight, the board voted to place Mr. Marcotte on administrative leave.
We want to thank our staff for acting quickly and following our safety procedures to protect students and keep them out of harm’s way. If you have any concerns about how this situation affects your child, please contact your child’s principal or me.

Marcotte is in his sixth year leading the Lyndon District, about 30 miles south of Topeka.
