Reporters and cameramen from virtually all the local television and radio stations descended on the Downtown Federal Courthouse to cover Friday’s Rally for Life. The day was cold but sunny, and spirits were high.
Emceed by former congressional candidate Jacob Turk, the event attracted speakers from many of the area’s most active pro-life organizations, including the Wyandotte Pregnancy Center, KC Coalition/40 Days 4 Life, Rachel’s Vineyard, Liberty Woman’s Clinic, Rachel House, Alliance for Life, Project Rachel, and the Birthright Center.
Coverage of the March for Life in Washington was likewise much greater than in past years when the media all but ignored a march that put more than 300,000 people in the streets of Washington.
“Life is winning again in America,” Vice President Mike Pence told those gathered in Washington. “That is evident in…the historic election of a president…who I proudly say stands for the right to life.”
Pence noted that President Donald Trump asked him to speak at the rally. He is the first U.S. vice president to address the rally in its forty-plus year history.
