The Johnson County Republican Party and The Republican Third Congressional District of Kansas Committee have partnered to create Give(R), a service project committee of the groups which benefits charities within the Third District of Kansas. In partnership with local philanthropists, Mike and Jo Kuckelman, their first service project is a baby shower to benefit a local crisis pregnancy center, Advice & Aid.
“I was thrilled that Advice & Aid would be the first beneficiary of this group’s charitable mission, said Ruth Tisdale, Executive Director of Advice & Aid. “When the team reached out to me with this idea, I couldn’t have been happier.”
The group was the brainchild of Missey Smith, who is a member of the committee.
“I am the oldest of five and was raised by a single mother who always found a way to help others. As an adult, I am just doing what my mom would do. We have a responsibility to assist those in our community. Give(R) provides us a way of doing just that,” said Smith.
Advice & Aid Pregnancy Centers helps women and their families make an educated decision about an unplanned pregnancy. They do this by providing evidence-based, medical information about parenting, adoption and abortion.
The baby shower event is open to the public. For those interested in contributing, Advice & Aid seeks diapers, bath towels, receiving blankets for girls, baby safety items, baby lotion, burp clothes, crib sheets, new car seats, high chairs, and other baby items as well as toiletry items for expectant moms and dads like body wash, deodorant, and feminine hygiene products.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, July 29 at the Johnson County Republican Party headquarters at 10107 W. 105th Street, Overland Park, KS 66212.
