According to Fox4 KC, the federal immigration department has placed a hold on 22-year-old Juan Contreras for raping an incapacitated woman in UMKC’s Johnson Hall. Contreras is reportedly “in the country illegally.”

Court documents state that the Conteras, the victim, and two others met at Johnson Hall and then proceeded to a dance club in Lawrence on the night of Feb. 23.

There, Contreras offered the victim a fruity drink. The next thing she remembers is waking up at 7 a.m. the following morning, her clothes off or undone.

Contreras was still in the room. She confronted him, and he claimed they had had sex. She hit him several times for raping her and then contacted the KCPD. Surveillance videos support her story. They show Contreras carrying her seemingly lifeless body into the dorm. Contreras did admit to the police that the victim was intoxicated when they had sex.

More problematic for UMKC, Contreras would have had to walk right past the security desk, which is supposed to be staffed around the clock. UMKC Vice-Chancellor Mel Tyler sent a butt-covering email to faculty and staff rich in the language of the bureaucrat. It said, “The victim and other students involved were referred to the University’s Title IX office and to the Violence Prevention and Response Office for assistance and support.”

Not surprisingly, Tyler made no mention of Contreras’s immigration status or the involvement of federal authorities. In November students rallied on the Plaza to protest President Trump’s immigration pollcies. They then marched down Main Street chanting, “F— Donald Trump,” and “Not my president.”

In June 2015, when announcing his candidacy, Trump said of illegal immigrants from Mexico, “They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.”

The “rapist” comment is the one that most inflamed the left. UMKC and the Kansas City Star will be reluctant to highight the details of this case lest they give Trump’s warning credence.
